Ex Libris: General Theory of Abandoned Books/ Ex Libris: hüljatud raamatute üldine teooria
Ex Libris project 2nd exhibition in the Solaris Glass Box, Tallinn.
This exhibition showcases the belated arrival of abandoned books into the art world. After individuals have donated the volumes or libraries have discarded them, four artists have treated these abandoned books as material for artistic creation.
The display demonstrates that what is discarded by one era can be useful for future creativity; the leftovers unknowingly left to us by others, the remnants of our present, are the cultural genes of the near future that once had the freedom of enjoyment, play, and recombination.

– Repository, Anne Rudanovski, 2017–2024. The Latin etymology of the word “repository” refers to a storage place or container where various things, data, species, or tools are placed. Nowadays, libraries use this term to denote the service of storing documents donated by individuals or institutions. For seven years, Anne has been creating sculptures from books, playing with their tactile, intellectual, and historical dimensions. The result is a sort of fragmented monument where the story of peoples, myths, animals, and birds is told in a new way.
